Scotland, July 15 — In a significant development ahead of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) UK elections, three out of the four candidates running for the position of President have reached a consensus to field a single joint candidate.
According to Govinda Kharel, NRNA UK’s General Secretary and one of the presidential contenders, the agreement was made among Manish Khatri, Kashiram Bhandari, and himself following intensive internal discussions.
“There were some internal differences, but we held meaningful dialogue to move forward in unity,” Kharel told to uknepalpress and nationalpressuk.
“Today, we reached an agreement that only one candidate will represent us. The final decision on who that will be is expected soon.”
He added that ongoing consultations are focused on ensuring broad representation, especially considering the large number of NRNA members in Scotland.
“We are working to align with the sentiments of our members across all regions, including Scotland. We are committed to moving forward together,” Kharel said.
Meanwhile, Rajendra Poudel (Pudasaini) remains the fourth official candidate for the presidency.
Earlier today, the NRNA UK Election Committee released the preliminary list of candidates and announced that any objections or challenges must be submitted by 5 PM on July 15. The final list of candidates will be published on Wednesday, according to the election committee.
This consensus move is expected to reshape the dynamics of the upcoming NRNA UK election, potentially narrowing the field to just two serious contenders.
