Great Britain, Aug 11 — Marks & Spencer has reinstated its click-and-collect service for clothing purchases, 15 weeks after suspending the option following a major cyber incident.
The 141-year-old British retailer halted online orders for clothing and homeware deliveries, as well as in-store collections, on 25 April — three days after disclosing it was responding to what it described as a “cyber incident” involving a data breach.Home delivery orders through its website and mobile app resumed on 10 June, but the click-and-collect service — allowing customers to order online and pick up in-store — remained suspended while the company reinforced its digital systems and security safeguards.
The service is a key element of M&S’s integrated online–offline retail strategy, and its suspension is understood to have affected a notable share of customer orders. An M&S spokesperson said the company had taken a cautious approach to restoration to ensure “the highest standards of security and reliability” were met.
The incident is one of several cyber attacks in recent months targeting major UK businesses, underscoring the escalating threat to retail operations.
