In a significant prelude to the upcoming Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) UK elections, several key leadership positions within the National Coordination Council (NCC) have been filled unopposed—an extraordinary development that reflects a maturing diaspora political landscape grounded in consensus, credibility, and collective trust.
At the forefront of this quiet yet powerful electoral moment is Kamala Shrestha, who has been elected Vice President (Women) without opposition. A long-time advocate for women’s representation and empowerment within the Nepali diaspora, Shrestha’s uncontested candidacy speaks volumes about her enduring influence and the broad confidence she commands across community lines.
From the heart of Wales, Krishna Bhandari steps into a pivotal leadership role, also elected unopposed. Known for his deep connection to grassroots movements and regional coordination, Bhandari’s elevation is being seen as a strategic bridge between local voices and national policy within the NRNA framework.
On the secretarial front, Chhamkala Neupane Pokhrel has secured the position of Women Secretary unchallenged. With a reputation built on social activism and tireless community service, Pokhrel is poised to play a critical role in amplifying women’s issues within the association’s broader agenda.
The finance division has also found its stewards in a seamless transition. Saroj Thapa, a seasoned financial strategist, has been elected unopposed as Treasurer. Supporting him will be Deepak Timilsina as the Deputy Treasurer—both respected for their integrity and transparent approach to fiscal governance.
The youth and women’s sectors—two pillars vital to the future of the organization—have also found their leaders through unanimous support. Basudev Pokhrel has been entrusted with the role of Youth Coordinator, representing the hopes and voices of the next generation of British Nepalis. Similarly, Binu Lamichhane has been elected Women Coordinator, bringing her longstanding grassroots involvement and passion for gender equality to the national stage.
This wave of unopposed elections within NRNA UK is more than a procedural outcome—it is a message. A message of solidarity over division, of cooperation over contestation. It signifies a collective yearning for progress through collaboration, and a leadership culture that prioritizes the community’s shared aspirations over personal ambition.
As the NRNA UK edges closer to its formal electoral process, these unopposed leaders offer not just experience, but a promise: to lead with integrity, unity, and purpose.
