Kathmandu – Nepal’s security agencies, including the Nepali Army, alongside senior officials such as the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary, have urged political leaders and protesters to seek a peaceful resolution to the ongoing unrest through dialogue.
The Zen-Z movement has escalated in recent weeks, with demonstrators reportedly setting fire to the Federal Parliament building, Singha Durbar, party offices, and private residences of political leaders. The unrest has resulted in at least 19 reported deaths.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned from his position earlier, a decision that has been formally accepted by the President. Despite this, security officials stress that dialogue remains crucial to prevent further violence and to restore stability in the country.
Analysts note that the call for a peaceful settlement underscores the delicate balance Nepal faces between public dissent and political governance, highlighting the role of security forces not only in maintaining order but also in facilitating dialogue.
