Kathmandu, Nepal — The Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has announced a ban on the use of scarves (khada), garlands, and any clothing or accessories that reveal institutional affiliation within the immigration area. The new regulation aims to maintain the sensitivity and security of the immigration zone.
Issuing an official notice, the Immigration Office clarified that this rule applies to all passengers, travel agencies, and manpower companies. During immigration procedures or while present at the immigration counters, individuals are strictly prohibited from wearing or displaying khada, garlands, or any decorative accessories. The office cited potential security risks and unnecessary procedural delays as reasons for the prohibition.
Similarly, attire or items reflecting organizational identity are also banned. Clothing, hats, badges, or any other items that visibly indicate association with a specific group, organization, travel agency, or manpower company are strictly not allowed. The office emphasized that such attire could create perceptions of preferential treatment or raise questions over security protocols. The decision has been taken to ensure equal and impartial treatment for all passengers.
The Immigration Office has urged everyone to comply with these regulations to facilitate a smooth immigration process. The notice further warned that violations of these rules will lead to legal action as per the existing laws of Nepal.
