United Kingdom-Billionaire Elon Musk and Prince Andrew have been named in newly released documents linked to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The partial files, handed to the House Oversight Committee by Epstein’s estate, include flight manifests, phone messages, financial ledgers and schedules.
One entry from December 2014 shows a reminder noting: “Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)”. Musk has previously said Epstein invited him to the island, but he declined. He has been approached for further comment.
A flight manifest from May 2000 also records Prince Andrew travelling with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell from New Jersey to Florida. Maxwell was later convicted of conspiring with Epstein to traffic underage girls. Buckingham Palace records confirm Andrew was in the US at that time. The Duke of York has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
The files also refer to meetings involving other high-profile figures, including internet entrepreneur Peter Thiel, former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, and a planned gathering with Microsoft founder Bill Gates in 2014. Gates has since described meeting Epstein as a “mistake”.
Democrats on the Oversight Committee say the files shed further light on Epstein’s connections with wealthy and influential men. Republicans accused them of “putting politics over victims” and pledged to release the full set of records.
Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
