United Kingdom – Prince Andrew has been stripped of his “prince” title and will leave his residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
The King’s brother, who will now be formally known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, is expected to relocate to a smaller property on the royal estate in Sandringham, Norfolk.
The move follows weeks of renewed scrutiny over the Duke’s private life. Earlier this month, he gave up his remaining royal titles, including Duke of York, after growing pressure within the Royal Family.
The developments come in the wake of new claims made in a posthumous memoir by Virginia Giuffre, who has long accused Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager. She alleged the abuse took place on three separate occasions — allegations Andrew has consistently denied.
In a statement, Giuffre’s family described her as “an ordinary American girl who brought down a British prince.”
Her brother, Sky Roberts, told the BBC that while the King’s actions were “a step in the right direction”, they were “not enough”.
“We have to have some sort of investigation that goes further into this,” he said.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor Andrew’s representatives have commented further on the latest developments.
